Jalgaon: Man Beaten to Death by Mob on Suspicion of Child-Lifting; 5 Arrested
A 30-year-old unidentified man was brutally beaten to death by a mob in Jalgaon district of Maharashtra. According to police, the attack was triggered by rumours of child abduction. Five people have been arrested in the following incident.
According to the information, the man was allegedly roaming suspiciously in the Laxmi Ginning area on the Jalgaon–Kanalda Road. Locals suspected he was attempting to abduct Virat alias Lucky, the three-year-old son of Manohar Bhagwan Sonawane. Panic spread quickly and a large crowd gathered. Without verifying the facts or alerting the police, the mob caught the youth and assaulted him with kicks, punches and whatever objects were available.

Avane village sarpanch Pintu Patil informed the Jalgaon Taluka Police Station after realising the seriousness of the situation. When the police reached the spot, they found the youth lying in a pool of blood, with severe injuries and bleeding from his nose and mouth. The injured man was rushed to the district government hospital, where he died during treatment.
