KDMC Mayor Election 2026: MNS Pledges Support to Mahayuti for Mayoral Race, Says MP Shrikant Shinde

The Raj Thackeray-led Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) has officially extended its support to the Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena for electing a mayor for Kalyan-Dombivli Municipal Corporation (KDMC), said Shiv Sena Shinde MP and son of Eknath Shinde, Shrikant Shinde, claimed while speaking to the media. 

"Shiv Sena has brought its 53 corporators here. MNS has also brought its corporators here and extended their support to Mahayuti. We will form government with BJP, Shiv Sena, MNS and other parties here in Kalyan-Dombivli. Mumbai will also get a mayor of the Mahayuti," said Speaking to the media after the meeting held at Konkan Bhavan.

The KDMC house consists of 122 seats, with 62 required for a simple majority.

With the MNS’s five members backing Shinde’s 53, and the BJP’s 50 members already part of the broader Mahayuti alliance, the coalition comfortably surpasses the majority mark with a combined strength of 108 corporators.

When asked why MNS is contesting elections against them? While answering this question, Shrikant Shinde said that although we have contested the elections separately, we are trying to bring together those who are right for the development of Kalyan-Dombivli. If there is no opposition, there is no problem in development. MNS leader Raju Patil is my friend. He has supported the Mahayuti for development.

Shiv Sena UBT leader Anil Parab refused to answer the question of MNS forming an alliance to elect the mayor for the Kalyan-Dombivli Municipal Corporation. He said he can only talk about his party and not about what other parties are doing. "My party is Shiv Sena, and all the decisions Uddhav Thackeray will take," he added.
