Maharashtra Accident: Two Youths Killed, Three Injured After Car Falls into 50-Foot Pit at Waghoshi, Satara

In an unexpected turn of events a car traveling from Shirwal towards Lonand fell into a approximately 50-foot-deep pit dug for the Nir-Deoghar canal's water pipeline near the Waghoshi pass. In this incident two young men died on the spot, and three others were seriously injured. The accident occurred around 6 PM on Wednesday.

The deceased have been identified as Vansingh alias Jassi Gopalsingh Rajput, 22, of Lonand, and Rohit Balu Tople, 33, originally from Kundal, Sangli district, but currently residing in Lonand. The injured—Chetan Sunil Shinde, 24, of Korhale, Bibi, Phaltan taluka; Rohit Sukhdev Bhoi, 24, of Indira Nagar, Lonand; and Durgesh Madhav Dhaygude, 22, of Shelke Patil Vasti, Lonand—are hospitalized. The narrow, winding, and dilapidated road in the Waghoshi pass area is a death trap for motorists.

After the car fell into the deep canal pit, all the young men inside were trapped and unable to get out. The car was finally pulled out of the pit with the help of a crane after considerable effort. The seriously injured were then immediately admitted to a private hospital in Lonand for primary treatment.
