Students with disabilities across Maharashtra will receive enhanced financial assistance for their education after the state cabinet approved a hike in scholarships. The decision was taken at a cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Wednesday. As per the approved proposal, the monthly scholarship amounts have been increased, with the hike ranging between Rs 500 and Rs 1,000. To implement this revised scheme, the state government has sanctioned a total expenditure of Rs 23.11 crore, marking a major boost to educational support for differently-abled students.

The move comes as a significant upgrade over the previous scheme, where financial assistance ranged only from Rs 100 to Rs 200 per month. The revised scholarship structure aims to better support students at different stages of their education, ensuring improved access to learning resources and opportunities. Along with the increased monthly aid, the government has also introduced additional benefits to address specific needs, particularly for visually impaired students, and to encourage academic exposure through study tours.
