Maharashtra Lockdown: Strict restrictions announced in state till May 15
The lockdown-like curbs in place in Maharashtra have been extended till May 15 amid the COVID-19 crisis. Covid infections continue to spread rapidly despite lockdowns in many parts of the country. More than 3 lakh positive cases have been reported in India since the last many days.
What's open
With people continuing to crowd and roam around without any reason, the Maharashtra government on Monday restricted operation timings of grocery shops from 7 am to 11 am
This goes for bakeries, confectionaries and all shops selling food (including chicken, mutton, poultry, fish and eggs). These shops were open until 8 pm, but now only have a four-hour window.
Home deliveries may be allowed from 7 am to 8 pm, depending on local authorities, according to the order.
What will be closed
All salons and beauty parlours will be shut
Schools, colleges, cinema halls, hotels, and restaurants will be closed.
Sports complex and stadiums will be shut completely.
No religious gatherings allowed, places of worship to remain closed.
Only 25 people allowed to attend weddings.
Under the new restrictions, the wedding ceremony will have to be arranged in a single hall and should be completed in two hours as a single event.
Only 20 people will be allowed to be part of funerals
All private offices will remain closed.
Private buses can run with 50 percent capacity.
