Maharashtra Weather Update: IMD Issues Yellow Alert for Several Districts as Heatwave Intensifies Across State

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a heatwave alert for several districts of Maharashtra. According to the forecast, a heat wave is expected in isolated pockets of Sangli, Sholapur, Akola, Amaravati and Yavatmal until Friday, April 17, 2026.

While the hot and humid conditions in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR), including in Thane, Mumbai, Raigad, Ratnagiri, Palghar and Sindhudurg, till April 16. 

The state is witnessing a sharp rise in temperature as the heatwave conditions further increase the mercury. However, most of the parts, including Mumbai, witnessed clear skies with maximum and minimum temperatures expected to be around 34 degrees Celsius and 25 degrees Celsius.

Konkan Region

The Konkan region of Maharashtra is expected to experience intense heat. Thane and Raigad witness a district increase in daytime temperature with high humidity. Maximum temperatures are expected today to be 36 degrees Celsius and 39 degrees Celsius, while evening temperature likely to be between 24 degrees Celsius and 27 degrees Celsius.

West Maharashtra

Dry weather is reported in the region as heat conditions are likely to prevail during the day, while morning temperatures are relatively mild. Maximum temperatures are likely between 8 degrees Celsius and 41 degrees Celsius. While the minimum temperature expected 20 to 24 degrees Celsius.

North Maharashtra

Heatwave conditions are hovering in the North Maharashtra region as the day time temperature may increase from 37 degrees Celsius to 40 degrees Celsius, while minimum temperatures could fall between 19 degrees Celsius and 22 degrees Celsius.

Marathwada

Marathwada region is likely to face severe heatwave conditions, with completely dry weather. Maximum temperatures are expected between 39 degrees Celsius and 42 degrees Celsius, while minimum temperatures may range from 21 degrees Celsius to 25 degrees Celsius.  

Vidarbha

Vidarbha is expected to witness the highest temperatures in the state, with mercury levels possibly touching 40 degrees Celsius to 43 degrees Celsius. Hot winds will intensify the heat impact. Minimum temperatures are likely to remain between 24 degrees Celsius and 27 degrees Celsius.
