A major fire broke out at English convent school in the Vidyamandir Marg area of Vasai around 11 a.m. on Wednesday. No casualtie were reported in the incident. The fire brigade of Vasai Virar Municipal Corporation rescued 2 teachers who were trapped in the fire on the third floor of the school.

According to the information received, Navghar in Vasai is a large building of St. Anne's Convent School adjacent to Vidyamandir Marg in H ward of Manikpur city. Two teachers were working on the third floor of the school building when the school was closed.

Residents of the adjoining residential complexes upon seeing fire in the store room of the school immediately informed the Vasai Dewanman Suncity Fire Station. Firefighters rushed to the spot and brought the fire under control.However, at the same time, they managed to bring down the two teachers who were trapped on the third floor. The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained.

Due to covid-1p pandemic the school was closed and a major disaster was averted, no one was killed or injured in the blaze. However,  a lot of school's property and documents have been severely damaged.
