Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Awards 2023–24 Announced: 89 Sportspersons to Be Awarded on April 18

The Maharashtra government has announced the recipients of the prestigious Shiv Chhatrapati State Sports Awards for the year 2023–24. Sports and Youth Welfare Minister Dattatray Bharane made the announcement at the Mantralaya on Tuesday.

This year, a total of 89 awards will be presented across various categories, including:

Shiv Chhatrapati State Sports Award for Athletes

Shiv Chhatrapati State Adventure Sports Award

Shiv Chhatrapati State Sports Award for Para-Athletes

Jijamata Best Coach Award

Shiv Chhatrapati Lifetime Achievement Award

Veteran kabaddi player and sports organiser Shakuntala Khatavkar will receive the Lifetime Achievement Award, which includes a cash prize of Rs 5 lakh and a memento. The Direct Awards, which carry a cash prize of Rs 3 lakh and a memento, will be conferred on 18 athletes, including:

Paralympic medalist Sachin Khilari

World archery champions Aditi Swami and Ojas Deotale

Cricketers Shivam Dube, Ruturaj Gaikwad, and Yashasvi Jaiswal

The award ceremony will be held on Friday, April 18 at 11:00 am at the Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex, Mhalunge-Balewadi, Pune. The honours will be presented by Governor C.P. Radhakrishnan.

Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Deputy Chief Ministers Eknath Shinde and Ajit Pawar, Union Minister of State Murlidhar Mohol, Higher and Technical Education Minister Chandrakant Patil, Deputy Speaker Dr. Neelam Gorhe, Sports Minister Dattatray Bharane, and Minister of State Madhuri Misal, among others, will also attend the event. Additional Chief Secretary Anil Diggikar and Sports Commissioner Hiralal Sonawane will also attend.
