Pre-Monsoon Tree Pruning by BMC: Stay Informed About the Schedule and Safety Tips
Mumbai: To ensure public safety and minimize disruptions during the upcoming monsoon, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) is set to begin its pre-monsoon tree pruning initiative across Mumbai. Starting April 21, 2025, the pruning schedule for each locality will be shared via the official social media platforms of the respective Ward Offices, allowing residents to stay informed about when pruning will take place in their area.
This vital initiative, spearheaded by the BMC's Garden Department, is designed to address potential hazards caused by dead or dangerous tree branches, ensuring that Mumbai remains safe during the monsoon season. As part of the program, the BMC will carry out essential tree maintenance tasks, including removing dead trees, pruning excessive branches, clearing fallen trees, and stabilizing tree trunks. Additionally, pesticide treatments will be applied to protect trees from pests.
The BMC has advised citizens to check their ward's social media handles regularly for the pruning schedule. This proactive communication will help ensure minimal disruption, allowing residents to park their vehicles away from trees and support the maintenance process. The pruning work will be conducted with full cooperation from local authorities, ensuring timely and effective completion.
Private housing societies are also urged to seek prior permission from the BMC before undertaking any tree pruning within their premises to ensure compliance with local regulations.
With the necessary machinery and manpower in place, the BMC is committed to completing this pre-monsoon tree pruning work efficiently, ensuring a safer and more prepared Mumbai for the monsoon season.
