Holi 2025: Western Railway Announces Ban on Platform Tickets to Avoid Stampede Like Situation in Mumbai and Gujarat Stations
During Holi festival celebrations, Western Railway announced that it would impose a temporary restriction on the platform ticket sales till March 16 at key stations of the Mumbai Division. This measure is being taken by Western Railway to curb the passenger surge during festival season. It aims to control the crowd and ensure smooth passenger movement.
The Chief Public Relations Officer of Western Railway, Vineet Abhishek, made this announcement via a press release. As per the release, the sale of platform tickets has been restricted at Mumbai Central, Bandra Terminus, Vapi, Valsad, Udhna, and Surat.
In his press release, Vinneet Abhishek clarified that certain exemptions would be allowed under the new restrictions. People who are assisting senior citizens and female passengers will be allowed to access the platforms without restrictions.
Western Railway also urged citizens to follow all the rules and regulations imposed during this festive season to avoid any inconvenience. It also requested passengers to cooperate with the railway staff and follow guidelines for smooth and safe travel.
