Indian Tanker Green Asha Carrying Over 15,000 Tonnes of LPG Arrives At Mumbai Port After Crossing Hormuz

An Indian-flagged tanker, Green Asha, with 15,400 tonnes of LPG, reached at a port in Mumbai on Thursday morning, April 9, which shows a great relief in India’s energy during the ongoing war in West Asia and restrictions by Iran on the crucial route, the Strait of Hormuz.

The vessel reportedly docked at the BPCL-IOCL liquid berth at Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority (JNPA). It is the first such tanker to dock at JNPA since the conflict intensified in March between the US, Israel and Iran.

All crew members onboard Green Asha are secure and safe. Earlier, the seventh India-flagged LPG tanker, Green Sanvi, also crossed the Strait of Hormuz. 

Meanwhile, the Centre claimed that the domestic LPG supply situation in the country is currently stable. The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas has directed states and Union territories to double the daily supply of 5-kg Free Trade LPG (FTL) cylinders for migrant labourers.
