MCOCA Accused ‘Pappu Pager’ Arrested at Mumbai Airport After Police Lay Trap

The police have arrested notorious accused Nisar Ahmed Fazal Ahmed Sheikh, alias ‘Pappu Pager’, who had been absconding since 2023 in connection with the sensational firing incident at International Baking Company in Kashimira.

The Unit-1 team of the Mira-Bhayandar, Vasai-Virar Crime Branch achieved a major breakthrough after receiving specific information that the accused was returning from abroad and would land at Mumbai airport. Acting on the tip-off, the police laid a trap at the airport. As soon as Pappu Pager arrived at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport on March 11, 2026, the police team, which was already on alert, took him into custody.

The case dates back to the morning of October 13, 2023, when Chandrakant Mallappa Kondagule, an employee at the International Baking Company in Kashimira, was targeted in a deadly attack. An unidentified assailant attempted to fire at him with a pistol, but the gun malfunctioned and the shot did not go off. The attacker then fled the spot.

During the investigation, the police found that the attack was part of a well-planned conspiracy by an organised criminal gang. Considering the seriousness of the crime, stringent provisions of the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) were invoked in the case. The main accused, Pappu Pager, had fled abroad soon after the incident and had been on the run since then.

Pappu Pager also has a long criminal history. Four serious cases have been registered against him at Wadala Truck Terminal, Byculla and Kashimira police stations. After his arrest, he was produced before the court, which remanded him to police custody till March 20, 2026.
