Mumbai: 3-Year-Old Girl Dies After Republic Day Speaker Falls on Her in Vikhroli; Disturbing CCTV Footage Surfaces

A three-year-old girl died after a speaker installed for Republic Day 2026 celebrations fell on her in Mumbai's Vikhroli area. A disturbing CCTV footage of the incident has surfaced on social media. According to the information, the incident took place in the Ambedkar Nagar area of Tagore Nagar on Monday, January 26.

According to police, the child was running in the chawl area where speakers were installed when one of them suddenly fell on her. In the viral CCTV footage of 40-seconds, two loudspeakers can be seen mounted on stands. The wires connected to the speakers allegedly got entangled in the sack being carried on a man’s head, causing the speaker to topple onto the child who came running from behind the man. Seeing this tragic incident and the child,  two men immediately picked her up and rushed her to the hospital.

It is alleged that the incident occurred due to the negligence of a rag collector. Police said the speaker fell after the load of rags carried on the man’s head got entangled in a wire connected to the installation. The girl suffered serious injuries and was rushed to the hospital, where doctors declared her dead on arrival.

A case has been registered at Vikhroli Police Station, and further investigation is underway.
