Video of seven foot long Indian rat snake resting on the top of an air-condition unit has left internet shock. This incident occurred in Mumbai's Vile Parle east and caused panic among residents on Thursday, February 19,2026. Incident occurred in Air India Gate No. 3, when locals noticed the large reptile stretched along the narrow ledge above an outdoor AC unit.

Photographer Karan Solanki recorded the unusual snake sighting on his mobile phone, and the video's circulation on social media elicited reactions ranging from awe to concern. Alerted to the situation, a rescue team from Asha: The Hope for Animals Welfare Trust arrived and safely removed the snake, following standard wildlife rescue protocols, without harm to the animal or area residents, according to an India Today report.

Following Forest Department guidelines, rescuers released the rat snake into a safe, natural habitat away from human settlements, relieving concerned locals. Common in Mumbai's urban and semi-urban areas, Indian rat snakes are non-venomous and, despite their size, harmless to humans, playing a vital role in rodent control.
