Mumbai Local Train Update: Virar–Dadar Fast Train Skips Bhayandar Stop, Leaves Commuters Stranded
A major disruption unfolded at Bhayandar railway station during the busy morning rush on April 8, after a 15-coach Virar–Dadar fast local train failed to halt as scheduled. The unexpected incident left several commuters stranded and created confusion among passengers attempting to board and disembark. The train had departed from Virar at around 10:44 am and was expected to stop at key stations such as Vasai Road, Bhayandar, Dahisar, Andheri, and Dadar. However, after halting at Vasai Road, it continued at full speed and completely skipped Bhayandar station, leaving waiting passengers shocked.
The situation quickly escalated as commuters struggled to find alternative travel options during peak hours. Shortly after, a Virar–Churchgate AC fast local train arrived on the same platform, offering a temporary solution. Frustrated passengers, many without valid AC tickets or passes, demanded permission to board the train due to the unexpected delay. Taking into account the inconvenience caused, railway authorities briefly relaxed the rules and allowed passengers to travel in the AC local. This decision helped ease the overcrowding but underscored the level of disruption faced by daily commuters.
Following the incident, Western Railway has ordered an inquiry into the lapse, treating it as a serious operational error. Officials aim to determine the exact cause behind the failure of the train to stop and fix accountability. The disruption led to delays across the route and caused significant inconvenience during one of the busiest travel hours. Authorities have assured that corrective measures will be implemented to prevent such incidents in the future and to ensure smoother operations for suburban rail passengers.
