Mumbai News: Drunk Delivery Boy Booked for Rash Driving on Coastal Road
The Mumbai Police have registered a case against a 27-year-old delivery boy for allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol and endangering public safety on the Coastal Road in South Mumbai.
According to officials from the Gamdevi Police Station, the incident occurred on March 27 at around 3:00 pm. Police Constable Shrikant Kamble (37), who has been posted at the station since 2024, was on patrolling duty along the Coastal Road following instructions from senior officers. He was accompanied by Constable Anand Sonawane.
During patrol near the Coastal Road tunnel, the officers noticed a motorcyclist riding at high speed in a reckless manner. The police intercepted the rider and identified him as Abdul Yakub Ali Rahman (27), a resident of Sakinaka, Kurla, who works as a delivery boy.
During questioning, the police suspected that the accused was under the influence of alcohol. He was taken into custody and brought to the police station, where a breath analyser test was conducted. The test revealed a blood alcohol level of 239.5 mg per 100 ml, which is significantly above the permissible legal limit.
Based on these findings, the Gamdevi Police have registered an FIR against the accused under Sections 125 and 281 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), along with Section 185 of the Motor Vehicles Act for drunk and negligent driving. Further investigation is underway.
