Mumbai Road Rage: Yusuf Pathan’s Relative Held In Byculla After Pothole Splash Incident

Former cricketer and Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP Yusuf Pathan’s father-in-law, along with his son and another relative, has been arrested for allegedly assaulting a man and his family in Mumbai’s Byculla area. The incident reportedly occurred after water splashed onto one of the accused when the victim’s car passed through a pothole on the road.

 

According to the Byculla Police, a case has been registered against Khalid Khan alias Makalik (Pathan’s father-in-law) and three others under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including Sections 118(2), 115(2), 324, 352, 351(2), and 3(5). Three accused have been arrested, while one is currently absconding.

 

Police said that the complainant, Yusuf Khan (30), was returning home around 9 pm on Saturday when water from a pothole splashed onto Shoaib Khan (35). Yusuf Khan stopped his vehicle and apologised immediately, but Shoaib allegedly began abusing him and smashed the car’s windshield using a bamboo stick before attacking him and causing injuries.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

After returning home, Yusuf Khan’s family advised him to approach the police. However, on the way to the police station, he reportedly encountered Khalid Khan, who, along with his son Umarshad Pathan (35), Shoaib Pathan, and another Accused Shehbaz Pathan, got into an argument with him.

 

Police stated that the accused attacked Yusuf Khan and his relatives using bamboo sticks and a baseball bat. During the assault, Yusuf Khan’s brother Salman suffered a fractured hand, while his uncle Zaki Ahmed sustained serious injuries.

 

While Shehbaz Pathan remains absconding, the other three accused have been arrested and charged with assault and causing grievous injuries. They were produced before a court, which remanded them to judicial custody.

 

The police have initiated action based on CCTV footage, eyewitness statements, and recovered weapons, including bamboo sticks and a baseball bat. Authorities informed the court that the accused have been clearly identified through CCTV footage and witness accounts.
