Mumbai Tragedy: Teen Dies in Road Accident in Malad as Rider Tries to Avoid Hitting Stray Dog

Mumbai: Teen girl lost her life while trying to avoid hitting on a stray dog. This incident occurred on March 1, 2026 in Malad. According to the TOI reports, 19-year old girl was seated on pillion on a friend's motorcycle lost her life when he couldn't control his speed and they both fell while trying to avoid hitting a stray dog at Malad West. FIR has been  12.45 am registered at Bangur Nagar Police. 

Deceased identified as  Sidra Shaikh,  worked at a BPO in Malad West since last year. She used to live with her family in Andheri and was on duty from 3pm to 1 am on March 1, 2026 and asked her mom to keep dinner for her at around, 12:45 am.   At 1.45, her mother got another phone call. The caller said his name was Aniket and that he and Shaikh had been hurt in a road-related crash.

Shaikh's mother was asked to come to Babasaheb Ambedkar Hospital in Kandivali, where Shaikh was pronounced dead at 2:15 am. Aniket informed her family at the hospital that he and Shaikh were returning on his motorcycle from buying cigarettes around 1:15 am. While on the stretch connecting Toyota showroom junction to Back Road in Malad West, a stray dog ran in front of their motorcycle.

The road was partially dug up with barricades. Aniket, trying to avoid the dog, lost control, and they both fell. Shaikh suffered fatal head injuries and bled heavily. Aniket sustained injuries to his hands, back, and head. He took an auto to rush Shaikh to the hospital, but she died. Based on a statement given by Shaikh's mother, police registered an FIR against Aniket for negligence.
