Mumbai Water Cut: 10% Supply Disruption in 11 Areas from January 27 to February 7 for Maintenance Work
The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has announced a 10% water cut in 11 areas of Mumbaiand the eastern suburbs from Tuesday, January 27, to Saturday, February 7. The reduction is due to annual maintenance work on the Pneumatic Gate System at Pise, which supplies water to the city.
A 10% water cut will be implemented in the affected municipal areas. The same reduction will also apply to areas under the Thane and Bhiwandi Municipal Corporations that receive water supply from Mumbai. The work includes transferring 12 water connections from a 2,400 mm Vaitarna pipeline to a 2,750 mm Upper Vaitarna main pipeline and installing an iron cover on the pipeline at Khindipada in Bhandup West. As a result, residents are likely to face water shortages. The civic body has appealed to citizens in the affected areas to use water sparingly during this period.
