A tragic road accident in Mahim claimed the life of a young man after a speeding dumper rammed into a scooter on Tuesday night. The deceased has been identified as Ganesh Dhanraj Mudaliyar.

According to police, the accident took place around 10 pm near Raheja Hospital in Mahim. After the incident, the dumper driver fled the spot without informing the police or providing medical assistance to the injured. However, he later surrendered himself at Mahim Police Station.

Based on the complaint, Mahim Police registered a case and arrested the dumper driver, identified as Dharmendra Rajkumar Prajapati, a resident of Diva. He has been booked for causing death due to negligent and rash driving.

Ganesh’s father, Dhanraj Kannan Mudaliyar, lives in Dharavi with his family. Ganesh, the youngest son, had dropped out of his studies and was working at a garment shop in Sewree.

On March 31, the family received a call from Sion Hospital informing them about the accident and stating that Ganesh was in critical condition. When the family reached the hospital, they were informed that he had succumbed to his injuries before treatment.

Police investigation revealed that Ganesh was riding a scooter with his friend, Muthu Gopal Mudaliyar, when the speeding dumper hit them near Raheja Hospital. Ganesh sustained severe injuries and was rushed to Sion Hospital by locals, where doctors declared him dead on arrival.

Further investigation into the case is underway.
