Indian Railways has announced the operation of a special train service between Lokmanya Tilak Terminus (T) in Mumbai and Madgaon Junction in Goa to manage the heavy weekend return rush. The move aims to ease congestion caused by a surge in passengers returning after the holiday period. The special service will run only on Monday, January 26, 2026, and is expected to benefit both daily commuters and tourists travelling on the Konkan route. Railway officials said the additional train has been planned to ensure smoother movement, reduce overcrowding on regular services, and provide passengers with a more comfortable and timely journey back to Mumbai.

Train No. 01129: Lokmanya Tilak Terminus – Madgaon Junction Special

Train No. 01129 Lokmanya Tilak Terminus – Madgaon Junction Special will depart from Lokmanya Tilak Terminus at 01:00 hrs on Monday, January 26, 2026. The train is scheduled to reach Madgaon Junction at 12:00 hrs on the same day. This service has been introduced to cater to passengers travelling from Mumbai towards Goa and nearby regions during the post-weekend rush. Authorities believe the early morning departure will help distribute passenger load efficiently across the day, offering much-needed relief to travellers who may otherwise face long waiting lists or crowded compartments.

Train No. 01130: Madgaon Junction – Lokmanya Tilak Terminus Special

Train No. 01130 Madgaon Junction – Lokmanya Tilak Terminus Special will operate as the return service on the same day. The train will leave Madgaon Junction at 14:30 hrs on Monday, January 26, 2026, and is scheduled to arrive at Lokmanya Tilak Terminus at 04:05 hrs on the following day. This service is primarily aimed at accommodating the large number of passengers returning to Mumbai after the holiday. Railway officials said the overnight journey will help passengers reach the city early in the morning, allowing them to resume work and daily routines without inconvenience.

The special train will halt at several important stations en route, including Thane, Panvel, Pen, Roha, Mangaon, Veer, Khed, Chiplun, Sangameshwar Road, Ratnagiri, Adavali, Vilavade, Rajapur Road, Vaibhavwadi Road, Nandgaon Road, Kankavali, Sindhudurg, Kudal and Sawantwadi Road. In terms of coach composition, the train will have 18 coaches in total, comprising one 2-tier AC coach, three 3-tier AC coaches, eight sleeper class coaches, four general class coaches and two SLR coaches. Passengers have been advised to verify bookings through official railway enquiry channels.
