Enthusiasm and Energy… A Powerful run by Spirited Nagpurians
Nagpur: While the city was still asleep, the sound of footsteps began echoing on the roads of the Orange City early Sunday morning. Amid the gentle chill and the light of the rising sun, Nagpur witnessed a very different kind of dawn. Despite it being a holiday, thousands of citizens stepped out of their homes to experience a blend of health, enthusiasm, and social awareness. The occasion was the ‘Lokmat Maha Marathon’. As every year, the Lokmat Maha Marathon—an attraction for the entire Maharashtra and Central India—received an overwhelming response this year as well.
With the countdown of “Five, Four, Three, Two and… One!”, the atmosphere was instantly charged with excitement. As dignitaries waved the green flag, thousands of feet started running in one direction, and an inspiring journey began on the roads of Nagpur.
This marathon saw participation not only from professional athletes but also from a large number of first-time, novice runners. From six-year-old children to senior citizens above seventy, women, men, and specially-abled runners marked their presence and once again proved that “age is just a number.” Some participated to promote fitness, some to spread awareness on social issues, while others joined to test their own physical and mental strength. Placards carrying messages on environmental protection, de-addiction, women empowerment, cleanliness, and a healthy lifestyle gave this run a strong social foundation.
