Nagpur, June 23

The first open international yogasana championship organised by YK Group of Institute’s Yoga Life Centre in association with District Sports Office and Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar College, Deekshabhoomi evoked good response.

Arya Mendhekar and Sumit Dey emerged champions in the 8 to 10 years age category The Dr Sudhir Lekurwale memorial online competition was held in yogasana and innovative yoga in which participants from Singapore, Vietnam, Kazakistan, US, Andaman and Nicobar and India participated. While Arya won the title in girls section, Sumit emerged winner from the boys group. The prize distribution function was graced by Sunil Kedar, Maharashtra Sports Minster. Dr Sharad Suryawanshi, Director, Department of Sports and Physical Education, Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University. Avinash Pund, District Sports Officer were also virtually present. Yogacharya Ram Bhau Khandve of Janardan Swami Yogabhyasi Mandal presided over. International yoga player Dhanashri Lekurwale proposed a vote of thanks.

RESULTS 5-10 years boys: Kaustuv Banerjee,Vinay Lengure, Ankush Singh. 5-10 girls: Arya Mendhekar, Nikita Dhole, Tejaswini Mudgundi. 10-18 boys: Sumit Dey, Avarjit Shah, Jay Prabhu. 10-18 girls: Promita Sinha, Sawali Ganguly, Gargi Bhat. 18-25 boys: Raju Mane, Iqbaljeet Singh. Siddhivinayak Aamegi. 18-25 girls: Asawari Bhomle, Kalyani Bhande, Priyanka Adikine. Above 25 boys: Dadasaheb Babar, Sudhanshu Shekhar, Vinayak Kongi. Above 25 girls: Suchitra Debnath, Anjana Chavhan, Rakhi Chhaterjee. Innovative yogasana: Nidhi Dogra, Jay Prabhu
