Following the directions of the High Court, the divisional commissioner, district collector and municipal commissioner directed the expanded mucormycosis task force to conduct a meeting at district collector’s office on Saturday. During the meeting number of patients in the city, treatment methodology, public awareness and controlling the disease was discussed in the meeting. Following the decision of the High Court, the previous 13-member task force has now been extended to 22-member committee. Experts discussed about mucormycosis and other fungal diseases during the meeting. It was decided to gather information from all hospitals, which are currently treating mucormycosis patients by Monday.

A sub-committee was also set up to prepare a Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) in this regard. A committee was also formed to survey the hospitals in the city.

Information is currently being collected from all hospitals. At the same time, it was decided to plan an awareness campaign for the disease. District collector Ravindra Thakare, district civil surgeon Dr Devendra Paturkar, chairman of the Task Force Dr Prashant Nikhade, Dr Milind Bhrushundi, Dr Ashish Thool, Dr Girish Bhutada, Dr Ramakrishna Shenoy, Dr Arvind Saranaik, Dr Bipin Dehane, Dr Milind Changole, Dr Shyam Babhulkar, Dr Dinesh Agarwal, Dr Uday Narlawar, Dr Ravindra Khadse, Dr Meena Mishra, Dr Nitin Shinde, Dr Ashwini Tayde, Dr Kamal Bhutada, Dr Sanjay Chilkar, Dr Varsha Deoasthale, Rita John, Dr Harsha Meshram, Dr Nitin Gulhane, Dr Dinesh Agarwal, Dr Tejaswini Gedam, Dr Vinod Pakhdhune, Dr Purvali Katkar, Dr Deepika Sakhare and Sonal Rode were present.
