Pune’s Bhondwe emerges as Greco-Roman Maharashtra Kesari

Pune’s Digvijay Bhondwe won the title of the second Greco-Roman Maharashtra Kesari in a highly thrilling and spectacular wrestling competition held at the Vidarbha Kesari Ramdas Tadas Indoor Stadium in Deoli.

In the final bout, he defeated his opponent, Akshay Shelke from Buldhana, by 8–0 points (technical superiority), securing a decisive victory. The wrestlers and spectators present in the stadium celebrated enthusiastically, lifting Bhondwe on their shoulders to mark his triumph.

The second Greco-Roman Maharashtra Kesari title bout was held in the 87 to 130 kg category. For the third place, Aniket Girmal from Kolhapur and Hrishikesh Bobne from Latur were declared joint winners. On this occasion, Maharashtra’s Tribal Affairs Minister Ashok Uike and Minister of State for Home Dr. Pankaj Bhoyar honoured the winners with a silver mace and cash पुरस्कार.

Distinguished guests present included president of the Maharashtra Wrestling Association and event organiser, former MP Ramdas Tadas; MLA Rajesh Bakane; working president of the Maharashtra Wrestling Association Sandeep Appa Bhondwe; tehsildar Samarth Kshirsagar; BJP district president Sanjay Gate; former district president Sunil Gafat; former Municipal council president Shobha Tadas; Vaishali Yerawar; Vidarbha Kesari Sanjay Tirathkar; Mumbai Mahapaur Kesari Aba Kale; vice president of SMW Ispat Shyam Mundada; and vice President of Vidarbha Wrestling Association Dayaram Bhotmange.
