VCA players to go through outdoor training from today

Decks have been cleared for the training session organised by Vidarbha Cricket Association after a long gap of eight months as all the players as well as support staff have tested Covid negative.Their training will start on Friday at VCA Civil Lines premises.

Around 80 players in various age groups went through Covid-19 testing at VCA premises on Tuesday. VCA received Covid reports from a private lab on Thursday and all were tasted negative. Talking to Lokmat Times a senior player said, " Thank god every player has been tested negative and after a gap of eight months there will be some onfield activity. Only today morning we come to know about our Covid negative reports from our physio", he said.

Meanwhile a source on the condition of anonymity said, four to five players who have skipped the test for personal reasons would not be allowed to participate in the training session", he said. On Thursday evening VCA invited the players in different batches to give them instructions about safety norms.

VCA CEO Farooque Dastur said, “ VCA will scrupulously follow all guidelines and Standard Operating Procedures recommended by the local authorities and the BCCI. To oversee all medical protocols as required by BCCI, VCA has appointed a medical officer who will also educate the players and the support staff on the protocols to be followed”, he said.

The training will be conducted in three parts. Batting training at its indoor batting facility, bowling in nets and fielding practice in small groups. Different teams have been allotted different time slots to ensure that all safety protocols are followed. The training camps will be supervised by the coaches, physios, trainers of VCA. Vice President and Chairman CADC Prashant Vaidya will oversee the entire process.
