Vidarbha may host KTIG, says Raksha Khadse
Raipur: Following the statement by union Minister of State for Sports Raksha Khadse that the Khelo India Tribal Games (KITG) could be organised in non-tribal regions in the future, there is now a possibility that Vidarbha could also host the event. The inaugural edition of KITG, currently nearing its conclusion in Raipur, has been quite successful. The Minister was present here on Wednesday.
After meeting the players, Khadse said in a press conference, responding to a question from Lokmat Samachar, “The Khelo India Tribal Games can be organised in non-tribal regions in the future.” She added, “In Maharashtra, regions like Chandrapur, Gadchiroli, and Nandurbar have significant tribal populations. Players from these areas should be given opportunities to showcase their talent. Therefore, in the coming years, organizing KITG in such regions is possible.”
The Minister further said, “Not only this, we are considering organizing such games in every state.” Emphasizing the importance of sports in life, Khadse stated, “Sports can play a major role in making India a developed nation. Youth can be connected through sports. Winning and losing are part of the game, but it also helps in developing leadership qualities. Now, sports should become a part of every household conversation.”
