Vijay Rupani, Ex CM of Gujarat lost his life in tragic plane crash in Ahmedabad's Meghaninagar locality. On June 15, DNA samples of the mortal remains of former Gujarat chief minister Vijay Rupani, who was on board the Air India plane AI-171 near the airport in Ahmedabad on June 12, have matched with that of his relatives, a state minister said on Sunday.  F0llowing which  the former Gujarat Chief Minister’s mortal remains will be cremated in Rajkot today (June 16) with full state honours.

During the last riots Union Home Minister Amit Shah, senior BJP leaders, and top state officials will be present. Vijay Rupani's mortal remains will be handed over to his family at 11:30 am at the Ahmedabad Civil Hospital, where they are expected to arrive by 11:00 am. After completing all procedures at the hospital, the body will be airlifted to Rajkot, where it is expected to arrive between 12:30 pm and 2:00 pm. Ahead of the cremation, his body will be kept for public viewing for an hour to allow citizens to pay their respects.

Full State Honours, National Leaders To Attend

The funeral procession will begin at 4:00 pm in Rajkot. National and state leaders, including Amit Shah, Gujarat BJP chief CR Patil, and Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, along with other state ministers, are expected to attend. The Gujarat government has declared a day of state mourning to honor Vijay Rupani, who was among the 241 victims of the AI-171 plane crash. Vishwash Kumar Ramesh, an Indian-British national, was the only survivor.
