Ambala Accident: 24-Year-Old Woman Killed After Being Run Over by Drunk Policeman Following Crash With e-Rickshaw

A 24-year-old woman identified as Nikita died in a tragic road accident while travelling home from work in Haryana's Ambala district on Wednesday, February. According to the police, the accident took place near Kali Paltan Pull, where a head constable Amit struck an e-Rickshaw in which Nikita was travelling.

The family of deceased Nikita alleged that constable Amit ran over her after hitting an e-auto under the influence of alcohol. Thana Padav, SHO Dharamveer, saidthe  accident occurred when a private company employee, Harsh Bajaj and her sister Nikita, who work in Gurgaon, were returning home in an e-auto. 

"They took an e-rickshaw from the bus stand. Near Kali Paltan Pull, a head constable, Amit, was driving behind them. Due to a balance issue, the e-rickshaw overturned, and the girl was run over by a car," SHO Dharamveer told the news agency IANS.

A relative of the victim, Nikita said, she was coming from Gurgaon to Ambala Cantt to attend a wedding. After reaching Ambala Cantt, they got down from the bus and boarded an auto, when a speeding car struck the auto from behind. He alleged that the police are not doing a medical test of the constable who crushed Nikita under her rare car wheels.

Mayank, the brother of the deceased, said, "My elder sister was coming from Delhi. Her name is Nitika, and she works in Gurugram... A drunk police officer was driving the car, which ran over my sister..."

Dr DD Pandey, Civil Hospital, said, "We received the body of a 25-year-old girl at around 9:30 PM last night. Her body has been shifted to the mortuary. The police are conducting an investigation."
