Bengaluru to Experience Weekend Power Cuts; Check Timings and Affected Areas
Bengaluru citizens are likely to experience weekend power cuts for the maintenance of city’s power infrastructure. Authorities regularly carry out scheduled shutdowns to upgrade transformers, repair transmission lines and improve the stability of the distribution network. Bengaluru residents in some areas may experience temporary power outages this weekend due to planned maintenance by BESCOM.
As reported by News18, BESCOM officials, planned outages are carried out to facilitate preventive maintenance and infrastructure upgrades. This work includes servicing transformers, replacing ageing cables, repairing feeder lines and strengthening overhead electricity networks. Scheduled power shutdowns, though temporarily inconvenient, are essential for improving long-term reliability and preventing unexpected outages, especially during peak summer demand. This weekend, temporary disruptions may affect areas across eastern, northern, and southern Bengaluru, typically limited to neighbourhoods connected to feeders undergoing maintenance.
Commonly affected localities include Whitefield, KR Puram, Marathahalli, Mahadevapura, Yelahanka, Hebbal, BTM Layout, JP Nagar, Jayanagar, and parts of Electronic City, with brief interruptions also possible in surrounding layouts connected to the same substations.
Timings of Expected Outages
Most of the planned shutdown will be during day hours, were electricity demand is manageable.
9:00 AM and 5:00 PM
10:00 AM and 3:00 PM
10:00 AM and 6:00 PM
Restoration time depends on the work and feeder lines, but power may be restored earlier if maintenance finishes ahead of schedule.
