Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has reiterated his commitment to conducting a nationwide caste census, calling it a crucial step in exposing inequality and ensuring fair representation. He emphasized that the fight for social justice is ongoing, as B.R. Ambedkar’s vision of equitable access to resources, education, and governance remains unfulfilled.

Gandhi shared his views in a video featuring a discussion with Prof. Sukhdeo Thorat, former UGC chairman and an expert on Dalit issues. Their conversation covered the historical Mahad Satyagraha and the continued struggle of marginalized communities for representation in key sectors like administration and bureaucracy.

The Congress party has been a strong advocate for a caste census, arguing that it would enable better policy-making and a more just distribution of resources. With elections approaching, caste-based representation has become a significant political issue, with different parties taking varied stances on the matter.
