Chennai Triple Murder Horror: Drunken Brawl Leads to Murder of Migrant Worker, Wife, and 2-Year-Old Son in Adyar; Five Arrested
In Chennai, an abandoned sack containing a body was found on January 26. The body of that was of a worker was found in a posh neighbourhood in Adyar. But further investigations have shocked police as the murder case turned into a triple murder case. The guest worker Gaurav Kumar, his wife Minukaumari and his son Birmani Kumar (2) have been murdered too, and their body have been dumped at different locations across Adyar. Birmani Kumar’s body was found Buckingham Canal in Adyar, and Minukumari’s body is yet to be traced. Efforts are underway at Perungudi dumpyard to search for Minukumari’s body. In this case, five workers from Bihar, including Sikandar (33), Narender Kumar (45), Rabindranath Tagore (45), Bikas (24), and one other individual, have been arrested.
Police said that Gaurav Kumar was originally from Nalanda, Bihar. He worked as a security guard at a private company in Sriperumbudur for the past two years. On January 21 after a trip to Bihar, the family moved to Chennai, and Gaurav Kumar started to look for a job. Through his contacts in his hometown, he approached Krishna Prasad. Krishna Prasad is a 60-year-old man from Bihar who worked as a security guard and lived with his family in Taramani. He introduced Gaurav to several acquaintances from Bihar who were employed as security guards in nearby buildings.

Gaurav and his family stayed at Krishna Prasad’s house, and in other residences, migrant workers from Bihar were living there and searching for a job. On January 25, Gaurav went drinking with another security guard, Sikander, 33, and his four friends. A fight broke out between them while they were having alcohol, and Gaurav was attacked first. After Gaurav was attacked, Minukumari, along with her son Birmani, tried to flee from the spot. When they attempted to run away, the gang attacked them with an iron rod. The attacks turned out to be fatal, and Gaurav, Minukumari, and Birmani were killed.
To divert the police’s attention, Sikander and his aides wrapped Gaurav Kumar’s body in a sack and dumped it in front of a two-wheeler showroom in Indira Nagar First Avenue. Police have the CCTV camera footage in which it is clearly seen that two suspects transported the body on a two-wheeler, placing it between the rider and the pillion before dumping it. Police recovered the 2-year-old son's body near the Cooum River at Madhya Kailash. While they are searching for Minukumari’s body, it was dumped at the garbage bin area, wrapped in a sack.
