The number of coronavirus cases in the country are increasing day by day. More than 3 lakh corona patients are being registered in the country every day since last week.

On the one hand, the prevalence of corona is increasing while on the other hand, there is a shortage of vaccines. This is having an impact on the vaccination campaign. While there is a shortage of vaccines in the country, important research has been done in Western countries. The study could help shape future vaccine strategies.

Currently two doses of corona vaccine are given. However, People who have recovered from COVID-19 do not need two doses. It has been reported that only one dose is sufficient for them, according to new research from the Penn Institute of Immunology. The findings, published in Science Immunology, suggest only a single vaccine dose may be needed to produce a sufficient antibody response.

After recovering from COVID-19, antibodies are formed in the human body. The human immune response to vaccines and infections result in two major outcomes -- the production of antibodies that provide rapid immunity and the creation of memory B cells, which assist in long-term immunity. These antibodies work to create killer cells to kill the virus by alerting the immune system if the virus attacks again in the future.

According to a survey by the Penn Institute of Immunology, many people in the United States who have recovered from COVID-19 developed large amounts of antibodies after being given the first dose of the vaccine. However, their response to the second dose was limited. The results appeared a few days after the second dose was given to people who were not infected with the corona. Similar research has been done in many countries, including Italy and Israel.

According to a Bloomberg report, the new research has changed the strategy of the vaccination campaign in European countries such as France, Spain, Italy, Germany. Individuals who recovered from COVID-19 were given a single dose instead of two. A few days ago, Israel announced that all its citizens had been vaccinated and the country was free of Corona. Even in Israel, only one dose was given to people who had recovered from COVID-19.
