Highest number of deaths due to covid below 50 years of age, reveals AIIMS study

The number of people admitted to the AIIMS and those who died in the ICU due to coronavirus under the age of 50 is higher. More young people than senior citizens have died in the ICU of AIIMS. This has come to the fore in the study of AIIMS. The death toll from corona in the ICU of AIIMS is 227. 42.1 per cent of the patients are between 18 and 50 years of age.

94.74 per cent of the patients who breathed their last in the ICU of AIIMS had one or more serious illnesses. A study by the AIIMS found that corona deaths accounted for a significant number of deaths among people under the age of 50. People under the age of 50 have atleast one serious illness. They have a higher risk of death due to serious illness, 'said the expert.

The study was conducted at AIIMS from April 4 to July 24. A total of 654 patients were admitted to the AIIMS ICU. Of these, 227 died. 65% of them were men. The average death toll was 56. However, an 18-year-old patient also died. A 97-year-old man died of corona.

The highest number of deaths are in patients below 50 years of age. The total number of deaths is 42.1 per cent in the age group of 18 to 50 years. 34.8 per cent of deaths are in the age group of 51 to 65 years. 23.1 per cent of the deaths are in the age group of 65 and above, 'said AIIMS Trauma Center chief Dr. Presented by Rajesh Malhotra.
