IND vs PAK: Mumbai–Colombo Flights See Massive Hike After Pakistan Withdraw Boycott of T20 World Cup 2026 Match vs India
India National Cricket Team vs Pakistan National Cricket Team Match: Airfares between Mumbai and Colombo have jumped sharply following confirmation that India and Pakistan will face each other in the T20 World Cup on February 15, 2026. Round-trip tickets now cost around Rs 60,000, an increase of nearly Rs 10,000 within minutes of the announcement, according to News18. Online bookings showed Air India’s Chandigarh-Colombo flights for February 15-16 priced at roughly Rs 63,000, while IndiGo fares ranged from Rs 70,000 to Rs 74,000. Fares from Delhi to Colombo were reported between Rs 40,000 and Rs 45,000.
The surge follows Pakistan’s reversal of its earlier boycott decision, ending weeks of uncertainty over the tournament’s marquee match. The India-Pakistan fixture, known for its huge viewership and electrifying atmosphere, is expected to attract tens of thousands of spectators, driving prices higher.
The decision came after discussions involving the International Cricket Council, the Pakistan Cricket Board and the Bangladesh Cricket Board, with support from Sri Lanka Cricket. Bangladesh Cricket Board president Aminul Islam visited Pakistan to request PCB chief Mohsin Naqvi ensure the team would play. Reports said Naqvi formally asked Islam to make an appeal, helping to resolve the standoff. Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also received a call from Sri Lanka President Anura Kumara Dissanayake urging him to allow the team to participate.
The India-Pakistan match is scheduled to be played at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo on February 15, 2026. The two teams have faced each other eight times in T20 World Cups, with India winning seven of those matches.
Pakistan began their campaign with a narrow three-wicket win over the Netherlands at the Sinhalese Sports Club, Colombo. They will play the United States on Tuesday, February 10. India opened their tournament with a 29-run win over the USA at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai, and will take on Namibia at Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi, on February 12.
