Thiruvananthapuram, March 22 Kerala on Sunday saw a spurt of 15 fresh coronavirus cases - the largest number in a single day since the disease's presence was detected, taking the state's total to 64, officials said.

Health Minister K.K. Shailaja said that as of now, there are 59,295 people under observation, of which 314 are in various hospitals in the state.

With the new cases, 10 out of the state's 14 districts have positive cases of the disease. Kollam, Palakkad, Wayanad and Alappuzha are yet to report any case.

hailaja said that the state is fully geared to meet any eventualities and numerous centres are ready with all the facilities.

Even though the Centre has advised to see that all districts in the country where positive cases are registered to close down, Kerala is yet to decide on it and Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan is meeting his officials Monday on necessary measures to face the crisis.

While Kasargode district is under lockdown as the maximum number of cases being reported there, it remains to be seen, what strategy would be announced on Monday.

In all likelihood, strict warnings are expected to all to see that the no directive of the state government to curb spread of the disease is violated.

State Transport Minister A.K.Saseendran announced that from Monday, state owned transport buses will stop operating long distance while a decision on the mofussil services will be taken.

In view of the rapid spread of Covid-19 and the rising demand for personal protection kits from the various institutions, the Union Health Ministry has authorized state headquartered AHLL Lifecare Ltd as the nodal procurement agency for all such requirements.

To coordinate with regard to the supplies around the country, HLL has set up an emergency response team with dedicated centres - here and in Delhi.
