LIVE Maha floor test: BJP likely to approach GUVover change in protem speaker

The Maha Vikas Aghadi government led by Uddhav Thackeray of the Shiv Sena-NCP-Congress alliance will prove its confidence vote in the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly today. The two-day session of the assembly starts on Saturday. The vote of confidence will be taken on the very first day after the introduction of new ministers in the House. 

Assembly Speaker will be elected on Sunday after which the motion of thanks will be moved in the House on the Governor's address. The new assembly speaker will then announce the name of the opposition leader in the assembly. Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari has given time till December 3 to prove Thackeray majority.

Nana Patole of Congress will be the candidate for the post of Maharashtra Assembly Speaker MLA Nana Patole will be the Congress candidate for the post of Maharashtra Assembly Speaker. Patole is an MLA from Sakoli. A senior Congress leader told PTI-language, "Patole will be our candidate for the post of Speaker of the Legislative Assembly." The Uddhav Thackeray-led government will try to get a confidence vote here today.

Senior NCP leader Dilip Valse Patil was appointed as the provisional Speaker of the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly on Friday . He replaced Kalidas Columbkar of the BJP, who was earlier appointed as temporary chairman during the swearing in of the MLAs. Patil has also been the Speaker of the Legislative Assembly in the past. Shiv Sena President Uddhav Thackeray sworn in as Chief Minister on Thursday. Apart from Thackeray, six other ministers - two each from Shiv Sena, NCP and Congress - also took oath.
