A tragic accident occurred in Dindori district on Sunday, April 12, claiming the lives of five people while leaving one person critically injured. The incident took place around 1 am near Kikaratalab village under the jurisdiction of Gadasarai Police Station along the Jabalpur-Amarkantak National Highway. A police official shared details of the incident with a news agency. According to initial information, all the victims were travelling in a pickup vehicle and were on their way home when the accident occurred under tragic circumstances late at night.

As per the police, the pickup vehicle suffered a sudden tyre puncture during the journey. Following this, the driver pulled over to the roadside and began changing the tyre, while the other passengers stepped out and stood nearby. At that moment, a speeding truck passing through the highway lost control and ran over the people standing on the road. The impact was severe, leaving little chance for escape. The collision turned fatal instantly, as those outside the vehicle were caught off guard and could not react in time to avoid the oncoming truck.

Superintendent of Police Vahini Singh stated that the accident was extremely horrific, resulting in the immediate death of five individuals, including the pickup driver. One person sustained serious injuries and was rushed to a nearby hospital, where treatment is currently underway. Preliminary investigations suggest that the truck driver may have dozed off, which prevented him from noticing the people standing on the road. However, the driver claimed that the victims were standing in the middle of the road, making it difficult to avert the mishap. Police have arrested the truck driver and launched a detailed probe into the case.
