The Maharashtra government has announced the establishment of "Chief Minister Assistance Fund" cells in all district collector offices across the state to assist patients facing financial hardship. This initiative follows the introduction of the Chief Minister Assistance Fund during CM Devendra Fadnavis' first tenure, aimed at providing urgent healthcare and financial aid to those in need.

The Chief Minister emphasized that the facility should be easily accessible to citizens in their respective districts. In line with this directive, the state government has decided to set up these cells in each district to streamline the process. Previously, patients and their families were required to visit the state secretariat to follow up on their applications. With the new system, citizens will now be able to access updates and support for their applications within their own districts.

Rameshwar Naik, head of the Chief Minister Assistance Fund, highlighted that this initiative would enhance service delivery to citizens, making the process more efficient and accessible. In alignment with the Chief Minister’s vision, the operations of the Chief Minister Assistance Fund will be fully digitalized, transforming the procedure for obtaining financial aid for medical treatments into a paperless process. This will eliminate the need for patients to visit the secretariat.

A new independent online system is being developed, which will reduce both the time and cost for citizens. The system will also allow applicants to track their application status and address any issues at the district level. Additionally, district offices will provide support in filling out applications, visiting hospitals of patients who have received financial aid, raising awareness about the fund, and offering assistance during medical emergencies.

A committee of expert doctors has been established to review and adjust the assistance amounts and expand the number of illnesses covered under the fund. This step is aimed at keeping pace with rising treatment costs. To further simplify the assistance process, the Chief Minister's medical assistance cell will integrate its existing online systems with the Charity Hospital Help Desk portal and the CM Relief Fund portal. This integration will make the process more efficient, providing a unified system for applicants and streamlining the overall procedure.
