A massive traffic jam was reported during peak hours on Friday, February 20, after a sinkhole appeared in the middle of the road on Mehrauli–Badarpur Road in Delhi's Kanpur Red Light area. A video shared by the news agency IANS shows chaos in the area after the road was blocked, frustrating early morning commuters and office goers.

The incident reportedly took place at around 9.30 am when a part of the road caved in, which has raised concerns over alleged metro-related negligence in the area. "At around 9:30, a sudden sinkhole appeared. After it formed, I came here and stood at the spot," said Traffic Marshal.

According to the information, vehicles are moving slowly from Khanpur to Sangam Vihar on both carriageways. Delhi Metro Phase 4 construction (Silver Line) has narrowed the available road width. A bottleneck has formed near the Tughlakabad area, adding approximately 15–20 minutes to travel times toward Badarpur.

Traffic is crawling near the Saket area due to a combination of high peak-hour volume and a minor vehicle breakdown reported earlier near the Press Enclave turn.
