The Modi government on Monday  approved a New Education Policy (NEP). According to the new policy, boards will get a lot easier as the new policy proposes lowering the stakes of these tests, which lead to a lot of stress among not just students by also parents.

Cabinet under Prime Minister Narendra Modi has given approval to a new education policy for the 21st century. It is important, as for 34 years there were no changes in the education policy, said Union Minister Prakash Javadekar.

The current 10+2 system to be replaced by a new 5+3+3+4 curricular structure corresponding to ages 3-8, 8-11, 11-14, and 14-18 years, respectively.

This will bring the previously uncovered age group of 3-6 years under school curriculum, which has been recognized globally as the crucial stage for development of mental faculties of a child.

The new system will have 12 years of schooling with three years of Anganwadi/ pre-schooling.

10+2 system will be divided into 5+3+3+4 format. The NEP changes the school education system to 5+3+3+4 format.

This means the first five years of the school will comprise the foundation stage including three years of pre-primary school and classes 1 and class 2.

The next three years will be divided into a preparatory stage from classes 3 to 5.

Later three years of middle stage (classes 6 to 8), and four years of secondary stage (classes 9 to 12).

Schools will not have any rigid formation of streams of arts, commerce, science, students can take up whichever courses they want.
