Rajasthan-Gujarat Bus Fire: Blaze Engulfs Moving Bus Near Nenava, Over 15 Passengers Injured

A major road accident was reported early Friday morning near the Nenava area along the Rajasthan–Gujarat border after a private bus caught fire while travelling from Jaisalmer to Gujarat. The incident occurred at around 4 a.m., when flames suddenly broke out inside the moving vehicle. Within minutes, the fire rapidly spread across the bus, creating panic among passengers on board. Reports indicate that at least six passengers suffered severe burn injuries, while more than ten others were hurt during the incident. Authorities also fear that one passenger may have died in the blaze, though officials have not yet issued a formal confirmation regarding the suspected fatality.

According to preliminary information, the private bus had left Jaisalmer and was heading toward Gujarat when the accident occurred between 3:30 a.m. and 4 a.m. As the vehicle approached the Nenava region near the Rajasthan–Gujarat border, flames suddenly erupted inside the bus. Thick smoke quickly filled the interior, causing widespread panic among the passengers. In a desperate attempt to save themselves, several people jumped out of the moving vehicle, which led to additional injuries. Rescuing some passengers trapped inside the bus proved difficult, and efforts were made to pull them out safely as the fire continued to spread rapidly.

Soon after the incident was reported, villagers from nearby areas rushed to the scene and immediately began rescue operations. Showing swift response and coordination, local residents helped evacuate several passengers from the burning bus, preventing the situation from becoming even more tragic. Ambulances were called to transport the injured to nearby hospitals. Those who sustained serious burn injuries were taken to medical facilities in Gujarat for urgent treatment, while passengers with minor injuries were admitted to a hospital in Sanchore. Doctors confirmed that all injured individuals are currently receiving medical care and are being closely monitored.

Following the rescue efforts, villagers also alerted the fire department about the incident. Fire brigade teams arrived at the location and began an extensive operation to control the blaze. Firefighters struggled for several hours before finally bringing the flames under control. However, by the time the fire was extinguished, most of the bus had already been destroyed. The vehicle was left severely damaged, with much of its structure reduced to twisted metal debris. Authorities are now examining the remains of the bus to determine how the fire spread so quickly and caused such extensive destruction.

Officials have begun investigating the exact cause of the fire, though the reason behind the incident remains unclear at this stage. Early assessments suggest that the blaze may have been triggered by a technical malfunction or a short circuit within the bus, but investigators have not confirmed this theory yet. Since the accident reportedly took place within the Gujarat region, the Gujarat Police reached the spot and have taken charge of the investigation. Officers are also verifying the passenger list and examining other aspects of the case to determine the sequence of events that led to the accident.

After the incident, local authorities and police officials were placed on alert and coordinated with medical teams to ensure that the injured passengers received immediate treatment. Hospitals in the region have arranged special medical facilities to handle the emergency situation. Officials stated that all injured passengers are currently under medical care and their condition is being monitored closely. Meanwhile, a detailed inquiry has been launched to identify the exact cause of the fire. The incident has once again raised serious concerns regarding safety standards and regular technical inspections of long-distance passenger buses.
