The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) president claimed that Jagan Mohan Reddy-led government went for Rs 25,000 crore debts in six months. "This means every month the government borrowed Rs 3,500 crore every month but has not undertaken a single development work," the leader of opposition tweeted. He posted a report published in a Telugu daily that the state has set a new record in borrowing.

Naidu wondered why the government had to borrow five times in the month of August.

He said, YSRCP government, which raised such a debt, was accusing him of pushing the state into debts. "If you are incapable to govern, take the advice but don't burden the people with debts," he said.

After coming to power in May, YSRCP had alleged that Chandrababu Naidu during his five-year rule pushed the state into Rs 2.58 lakh crore debts.

Releasing white paper on state's finances in July, Finance Minister B. Rajendranath Reddy had held Naidu responsible for the financial turmoil in the state

The TDP chief said they wanted to give six months' time to the new government. "But from day one, it adopted destructive approach. At a time when people are suffering, we in opposition can't sit idle and hence on behalf of the victims we are fighting both legally and politically."
