Surat: Women Seek Action Against Jain Monk Over Viral Obscene Video; Monk Denies Allegations
A group of women from the Jain community in Surat, Gujarat, has approached the police, demanding action against a Jain monk after an allegedly obscene video went viral on social media. The women submitted an application to Surat Police Commissioner Anupam Singh Gehlot on Sunday, March 29, seeking strict action against Jain monk Chandra Sagar Muni.
Members of the group said the issue must be addressed promptly to avoid bringing disrepute to the community. “This has been going on for some time. Through our application, we have demanded strict action so that our Jain community does not face disgrace,” a member said.

The controversy began after a video surfaced online showing a man dressed as a Jain monk in an allegedly obscene act. Following this, demands were raised for action against the accused.
However, the monk has denied all allegations, calling them “baseless rumours” and part of a larger conspiracy to defame him. In a video statement, he said, “For some time now, some people have been spreading rumours about me. I have come to know that some women have approached the police commissioner.”

He also questioned the claims made against him, asking whether his accusers had ever met him or had direct knowledge of the allegations. “When did you meet me? Do you know what really happened? You have not met me anywhere, yet you are giving your opinion,” he said.
As of now, the police have not issued any official statement regarding the application submitted by the women’s group.
