Tamil Nadu Fire: Blaze Broke at Plastic Sack Warehouse Erode district; No Injuries Reported

A fire broke out n a plastic sack warehouse on Friday February 20,2026 in Tamil Nadu's Erode district. Tamil Nadu Fire and Rescue Services personnel are currently at the spot. Operations are underway to douse the blaze.

Fortunately, no one is injured in this incident. In separate incident, minor act of negligence nearly escalated into a serious fire accident at a petrol pump in the Urla locality of Raipur, Chhattisgarh, on Thursday evening. What began as an attempt to smoke during refuelling quickly turned dangerous when a young man allegedly set the fuel nozzle on fire after being warned against lighting a cigarette.

The sudden blaze engulfed parts of a motorcycle and the dispensing unit, sparking chaos at the busy station. Alert pump employees reacted without delay, using a fire extinguisher to control the flames and successfully preventing the situation from spiralling into a large-scale disaster or explosion.

According to police officials, two individuals identified as Dharmendra Kshatri and Imran had arrived at the petrol pump on a motorcycle to fill fuel. Imran reportedly stayed seated on the vehicle while Dharmendra stood beside it as the tank cap was opened. During the refuelling process, Dharmendra allegedly pulled out a cigarette and attempted to light it.

When staff members objected and reminded him that smoking is strictly prohibited at fuel stations, he reportedly lost his temper. In a fit of anger, he is said to have used a lighter to ignite the fuel nozzle pipe, instantly triggering flames.
