Uttarakhand: Businessman Found Dead With Gunshot Wound in Khatima, Police Suspect Suicide
The body of a senior businessman from Uttarakhand's Khatima was found under suspicious circumstances on Tuesday (January 20) near the Sujia canal. The lifeless body of prominent businessman and property dealer Jashodhar Bhatt (60) of Kanjabagh Road, Ward 11 found with a gunshot wound near a temple. A licensed revolver and a suicide note were also recovered from the spot, 500 meters from Khatima Toll Plaza, according to the news agency IANS.
According to the police, they received information around 2.30 pm about a body lying near the Sujia canal in the Sujiya Maholia farmland area. A police team rushed to the location and identified the deceased as 62-year-old Jashodhar Bhatt, a senior businessman and resident of Kanjabag, Khatima. He was the son of Prem Ballabh Bhatt. The news of his death caused panic in the town, and a large crowd gathered at the site.

Bhatt was originally from the Champawat district and had been living for several years in Ward No. 11 on Kanjabag Road in Khatima. He owned a garment shop named Premji Garments in the main market area. His son runs a hospital on Kanjabag Road.

Police have taken the body into custody and sent it to the sub-district hospital in Khatima for a post-mortem. Khatima Circle Officer Vimal Rawat said the preliminary investigation suggests suicide.
According to CO Rawat, a suicide note was found near the body in which Jashodhar Bhatt stated that he took hi own life. Police said all aspects of the case are being examined further.
