Many people are suffering and starving due to the coronavirus induced lockdown. For the last 30-35 years, Kamalathal Amma (age 85) from Tamil Nadu has been selling Idlis for just Re 1. Now, amid lockdown as businesses gravely suffer, she has refused to hike up prices and continues to sell at the same affordable rate. This, despite the losses incurred. The reason? She doesn’t want the poor to go hungry.

When celebrity chef Vikas Khanna came to know about Amma's work, Vikas Khanna took to Twitter to gather information about Kamalathal Amma.

Vikas Khanna took to Twitter and asked if anyone could give information to him about Kamalathal Amma in Coimbatore, to which many responded.

He wrote,"Good Morning. Im trying to write this without breaking down.Ive been HUGE fan of K Kamalathal,Coimbatore,Tamil Nadu since @anandmahindra ji wrote ab her.A few days back she said that "No One Should Go Hungry: Despite Lockdown & Losses, 80-YO Refuses To Hike Idli Price Of Re 1".

I have 350 kg of rice. Someone should help them coordinate. In fact, Vikas Khanna wanted to deliver 350 kg of rice to Amma. After Vikas Khanna's tweet, many people came forward to help him and the chef was able to deliver rice to Amma.
