Hind Di Chadar At Navi Mumbai: PM Narendra Modi Likely To Virtually Address 20 Lakh Devotees At 350th Martyrdom Commemoration Of Guru Tegh Bahadur

The ‘Hind-di-Chadar’ programme will be held on February 28 and March 1 at Owe Ground in Kharghar, Navi Mumbai, to mark the 350th martyrdom anniversary of Guru Tegh Bahadur. The announcement was made by Konkan Divisional Commissioner Rameshwar Naik, who is coordinating the state-level committee for the event. An estimated 18 to 20 lakh devotees are expected to gather over the two days. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is likely to join virtually and address the audience during the commemorative programme.

Dignitaries Expected To Attend
The event is set to witness the presence of several top leaders. Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Maharashtra Governor Acharya Devvrat, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, and Deputy Chief Ministers Eknath Shinde and Sunetra Pawar are expected to be present. Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha may also attend. Invitations have been extended to several chief ministers, including Bhupendra Patel, Yogi Adityanath, Dr Pramod Sawant, Nayab Singh Saini, Dr Mohan Yadav, Bhajanlal Sharma, and Rekha Gupta.

Spiritual Leaders Likely To Participate
Prominent religious figures are also expected to mark their presence. These include yoga guru Baba Ramdev, preacher Dhirendra Shastri, and spiritual leader Sadhvi Ritambara. Their participation is anticipated to add a spiritual dimension to the large-scale commemoration.

Why The Event Is Being Organised
The programme aims to spread awareness about the teachings, sacrifice, bravery, compassion, and unwavering resolve of Guru Tegh Bahadur. His martyrdom is observed every year as Shaheedi Diwas to honour his supreme sacrifice and his stand for religious freedom and human dignity. Organisers said the event seeks to educate people about his enduring legacy and inspire future generations through his life’s message.

Crowd And Venue Arrangements
Authorities are preparing for an estimated turnout of 18 to 20 lakh attendees across the two days. The main hall at the venue has a seating capacity ranging from 80,000 to one lakh people at a time. To manage transportation, more than 150 special NMMT bus services will operate for devotees. Additionally, 38 designated parking areas have been arranged, along with three specially constructed helipads to facilitate the movement of dignitaries.

Facilities For Devotees
Accommodation arrangements have been made for around 25,000 visitors. Nearly 1,000 temporary toilet units have been installed at the site to maintain hygiene standards. Over 500 sanitation workers will be deployed to ensure cleanliness throughout the programme. A grand langar pavilion has also been set up to serve meals to devotees attending the event.

Medical And Emergency Preparedness
Comprehensive healthcare measures have been planned for the gathering. More than 300 doctors and paramedical staff will remain on duty during the two-day programme. Over 15 temporary medical centres will function at the venue, along with one dedicated temporary ICU facility. Nearby hospitals have reserved 350 beds for emergencies, including 75 ICU beds. More than 10,000 volunteers will assist in crowd management, medical coordination, and overall event operations.
