Centre issues COVID-19 guidelines for festive season

The Union Health Ministry on Thursday sounded alert, urging people to follow the Covid guidelines ahead of the festive season.
The centre has urged citizens to avoid mass gathering in containment zones and in districts with over 5 percent positivity rate.
While addressing the media, Union Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan also informed that six states/ Union Territories namely Lakshadweep, Chandigarh, Goa, Himachal Pradesh, Andaman & Nicobar Islands and Sikkim have covered 100 percent of the first doses to their population.
He further added that four states/UTs have more than 90 percent coverage of first dose – these are Dadra and Nagar Haveli, Kerala, Ladakh and Uttarakhand. “66% of the 18+ population has received at least one dose of COVID vaccines; 23% of the 18+ population received both doses.
In last 24 hours, 31,000 cases odd cases have been reported and most of these cases have been reported from Kerala & Maharashtra.
62.73% of the total cases in the last week have been reported from Kerala.
For the 12th consecutive week, weekly positivity rate continues to decline and is less than 3%. Recovery rate 97.8% in the country

About 2/3rd of the adult population vaccinated with one dose- 66% of 18+ age group received at least one dose, almost a quarter of adult population have received both doses.
“In last 24 hours, 31,000 cases odd cases have been reported and most of these cases have been reported from Kerala & Maharashtra. However, absolute numbers have gone down. 62.73% of the total cases in the last week have been reported from Kerala.” he further informed.
Randeep Guleria has advised all people to stay away from the crowds during the festival. The number of new patients is declining slightly. The Corona will never be completely wiped out of the country. However, due to rapid vaccination in the country, the speed of corona has slowed down a bit.
The corona virus will soon become like a simple fever, cold, cough. Because people now have immunity against corona. But people with illness and low immunity are more likely to die from corona, Guleria said.
It is imperative that all people in the country be vaccinated against corona. Some people may need a booster dose. But it will be decided. First of all everyone should be vaccinated then booster dose will come up. The goal is to vaccinate everyone by December
