The incidence of cyber fraud is increasing rapidly. In such a situation, the risk of theft of bank information in users' phones is greatly increased.

There have also been cases of hackers luring users into their traps. In view of this threat, Airtel CEO Gopal Vittal sent a cautionary email to the company's more than 350 million users.

Vittal referred to the recent fraud. In which a fraudster used to get his bank details from the users under the pretext of KYC update as an Airtel executive.

In this email, he talks about such financial frauds and fraudsters and how they work. In addition, they have stated in the email some important things to prevent such fraud.

Currently, a large number of UPI apps are being used. Therefore, a large number of fake UPI apps are being created nowadays, he said.

There are a lot of fake UPI apps available in the market right now and they look exactly like NPCI and BHIM apps. When you download this app, they ask you to enter all your backup information except MPIN, says Vittal.

Based on this information, hackers steal money from users' bank accounts. Such people ask for OTP to block or renew the bank account block claiming to be a bank executive.

Hackers often send attractive emails to lure users into their nets. There is a fake link in it, clicking on it can lead to theft of your bank details, Vittal said in his email.

Vittal also said that fake refunds, points, or rewards emails from the Income Tax Department, Visa, or MasterCard can be dangerous. He has appealed not to click on the attachments given in it.

Customers should use antivirus on their phones. So that it scans all the files that you download.

"Online transactions should not be done through computers in cyber cafes, and online transactions on public WiFi networks should be avoided," he said in his email.

The proper way to avoid any kind of fraud is to not give your customer ID, MPIN, OTP on any phone. In addition, if you have received any fake messages, do not click on the link provided. Such tables can be quickly removed from your mobile.
